A New Breed Of Big Man

Drafted in 2018, Jaren Jackson Jr.'s arrival in Memphis was met with a fever-pitch level of hopes and expectations. It's safe to say that those expectations were met and exceeded. In the 2018 regular season, he became the first rookie in league history to amass 50 blocks, 50 steals, 50 made three-pointers and shoot at least 50 percent from the field. He was also a first-team NBA All-Rookie selection despite missing over a dozen games with a deep bruise injury.

The 2019 season is just around the corner and those same hopes and expectations are begging to be challenged once again by this 19-year-old superstar. Given his young age and extreme talent level, he's sure to entertain and excite Grizzlies fans for years to come.

Off The Court

Unsurprisingly, Jaren Jackson Jr.'s off-court contributions often find their way back onto the court. During the summer of 2019, he made a guest appearance at the Grizzlies' first-ever all-girls summer basketball camp. In 2018, he also hosted his own all-girls symposium, which was sponsored in part by Nike.

Jackson's pride in helping local youth, especially young girls, can often be correlated directly back to his mother Terri Jackson, who is the Director of Operations for the WNBA Player's Association. His father, Jaren Jackson, was also an NBA player who directly contributed to the 1999 NBA championship of the San Antonio Spurs and is now heavily involved in coaching.
